Over the past few weeks I've heard several cell phone conversations in public that, from the side I was listening to, sounded like this: "Why didn't you call me last night? I don't care what time it is. You know you're supposed to call me before you go to bed every night. I'm just hurt you weren't even thinking about me. Why weren't you thinking about me? What's wrong with you? You know you're supposed to call me."
The speaker is invariably a woman in her late teens/early twenties. I just want to grab the phone out of her hand, slap her wrist and tell her to stop being a psycho girlfriend. Guys? Why do you put up with that? Playing along with it is only going to make her worse. Unless you actually think that's what women are like and then all I can say is... *gasp* no no no no. That's what psycho girlfriends are like. The rest of us don't want our phones ringing at 2am just so you can let us know you're about to fall asleep, lest our fragile self-esteems crumble in the knowledge that maybe, just maybe, you took a few minutes in your life to think about something other than us.
